First of all congratulations on your new album "BLOOD TO BLOOD", it is one of the best albums I have heard in such a long time.

-What’s the origin of the bands name?

DerDRAKOS: Drakos is the Greek name of our family Clan. In most of the European tongues, both the Devil and the European national hero Vlad Tepes the Impaler are called dragons. "Der Drakos" sounds well for a father+son iron league and for what we stand for: pure diabolical creation, fury, joy, based on ancient natural pride.

-Tell us a story about a day in your life.

DerDRAKOS: As we wrote in our websites: “we are cigarette smokers, alcohol and coffee drinkers, meat eaters, leather lovers, fast drivers (Alfa Romeo and Volkswagen cars mainly), firearms and cold steel worshippers, hard blasphemers, European heterosexual males, heavy ravers”. Our day starts with strong Italian coffee, two fingers high, if we can't get this in the morning we become quite unpleasant. Then we burn our motors on the highway with stereo at full blast, we enjoy preparing our food (Greek and Italian cuisine) and taste it together with our special she-guests. The greater part of our time is taken by our music projects, our photography and movie works and other business, taking care of our cute little Lucifer with piercing blue eyes: our new born grandson Lukas.

-How does music affect you?

DerDRAKOS: We are spirits caged inside flesh and bones, with a love for energy and beauty. But if we'd release all the strength of the desires and the visions that we have inside our cells we'd burn alive in few seconds. Our body is too weak to support all the tension of our passions, we would need a different body for each one of them. Music can be like a river that conveys all this energy into a new form of magic without destroying our flesh, giving us force, pleasure and inspiration instead: the soundtrack to our will of joy and power… Our new album "BLOOD TO BLOOD" is a form of powerful art made through five main points: the composition of electronic music as a consequence of images in our minds, the firm refusal to use rhymes in our lyrics, the Dionysian theatre dimension, the cult for our own bloodline, the graphic arts. You can shake your body and dance to this CD’s hammering rhythms, or use it as a weapon for rising the demons inside you.

-What do you think about downloading music online?

DerDRAKOS: When it’s a way to check or buy music, it can be useful for pre-hearing the tracks from records you may want to own, or to get the songs you love in a fast way still giving vital support to the bands that created those songs. But we have a cult for real CD’s and vinyls: they are the magic object that contains the creation of the musicians, of the tracks masterer, of the photographer, of the graphic artist and of a good printer too. Just like a well produced book or dvd, it is an idol that you hold in your hands with living sounds, voice and energy spreading out of it for centuries and generations… When it comes to the so called ‘free download’ or ‘sharing’ instead, this is a criminal fuckers’ behaviour that is wasting all the hard work of musicians, writers, film makers, producers and distributors. We think that both the owners of these websites that host stolen materials and the sons of bitches who copy, upload and give away the artists’ work for free, should be hanged to the first available tree.

-What's your outlook on the record industry today?

DerDRAKOS: It's like everything else on this over-crowded planet: loads of garbage. Decadent whining for half eunuchs, mechanical stupidity or crack for retards: cheap media drugs, used by the music establishment to make people even dumber than the average human idiocy standards, designed to "bring people together" which means: lift cash from their pockets while keeping the morons 'happy'. Note well: we are not complaining or crying about this, there are millions of idiots who only want shit and shit is what they get. We are just calling things with their name. Music, in its noble form, belongs to the superior dimension of art together with sculpture, architecture, poetry and mind power. But we must be very precise: there is music with a spirit and there is a whole sea of mud around it. The ‘music entertainment industry’ has thrown tons of rubbish on the market for decades and now is facing a well deserved crisis. The best reaction to this situation is to produce your own very special editions, pure art through new experiments and high quality (the same decision that the Porsche guys did on a larger scale: when everyone wanted to lower the quality and produce just midget cars for the spoiled masses, they said they’d rather come out with even more expensive sport models, they did it and they are still the kings).

-What or who was the inspiration behind the songs She Wolves Are Rising along with Stronger Than Remorse?

DerDRAKOS: "SHE-WOLVES ARE RISING" (music by Alex, lyrics and vox by Steve) is a man’s will to evocate three female devils from the Abyss, to welcome them as his three eternal wives: it's the vampire's ideal, the curse of a total misogynist who is still looking for his three unique women as he desires to torment them endlessly, so they have to be three real she-wolves to stand the perversions they would practice on each other in several states of trance. “STRONGER THAN REMORSE” (music and lyrics by Alex, vox by Alex and two Czech girlfriends) are the instincts of lust and domination of two young witches, combined with the natural will of a boy that can crush every squalid morals to achieve anything he wants.

-You are very proud Europeans and very proud of your heritage, what are your thoughts on those that are not proud of their heritage?

DerDRAKOS: Yes we are fiercely proud to be Europeans, from Italian and Greek families. We are proud of our history and culture, proud of our hot violent blood that comes from the Russian steppes and has created the Western Civilization through the Greek magic, the Roman Empire and the Germanic-Slav-Latin might. We don't care about politics, ideologies or superstitions, we are natural born European ultra-Nationalists because we just love our beautiful sacred Lands. We know this can be a danger for our ‘artistic careers’ but we don’t give a spit. If you like us, good, if you don’t like us, great. It's a decision you have to make for your life: either live all your days like a shitter and die like a shitter and be remembered forever like a shitter, or stand for your true nature and ideas whatever they may cost you. Those who don't have deep feelings of passion for their own nation are guilt-ridden defective products of the 'global correction market', they have egg white in their useless veins instead of blood. But please note again: what ‘normal’ people feel or don’t feel is something that has nothing to do with us. We are antisocial worshippers of our own blood and Clan.

-Tell us a little bit about your music making process including the writing process.

DerDRAKOS: First: we get nervous. Second: we stay on the keyboards and do the tracks. Third: we hear and arrange them. Same with the lyrics, we write down our visions, pen on paper, then we work for hours and days, giving power and shape to the original ideas until they become a song. At this stage, the lines of the voice must ride the sound like a diabolical pilot.

-Your music along with your lyrics are very dark and satanic, do you get a lot of inspiration from your personal beliefs?

DerDRAKOS: We are not believers, but we are not atheists either. There's no need of both celestial bosses and atheistic dogmas. Experiment our own natural powers just like discovering electricity, radioactivity, hypnosis and more: this way we'll have even bigger surprises on how much we can get from life and death. It's a basic instinct of all our sounds and lyrics. We see music as a natural ritual of deep live strength.

-With your personal beliefs how do you look upon this world when it comes to magick, religion, etc.?

DerDRAKOS: Is very simple: win or die. DerDRAKOS are supported by fans of very different opinions and ethnic identities, except religious nuts.

-Do you prefer to surround yourselves with those that have the same beilefs as you in one way or another, or just surround yourselves with those that are proud of who and what they are?

DerDRAKOS: When we find persons who share our attitude, that's fiery witchery... On a general level we are glad to talk with anyone who has love for life, sense of humor, intelligence and good professional skills. "BLOOD TO BLOOD", for example, has been excellently mastered by a Catholic man with holy Mary’s and huge crosses tattooed on his forearms, he did a great work and we’re both looking forward to collaborate on the coming projects.

-From this new album "BLOOD TO BLOOD" what is your favorite track(s) and why?

ALEX DRAKOS: "STRONGER THAN REMORSE", "FAR BEYOND DAMNATION", “NO ONE IS LIKE ME” and all of my tracks, because they are my own music creations. I also like the vocals that we layed on them: Susi Medusa's accent is perfect Italian from the north of her country and “LA VIPERA” (music by Alex and Steve, vox by Susi Medusa) is a classical theatre scene (Susi has also created the CD’s killer graphics, she’s a world famous fetish-hardcore film director and artist - check her name on the internet’s search engines and see what comes out). The accent of our male voices, someone wrote they are east-Europe, we're not from the east of Europe but is interesting to hear what rises in other people’s minds through the many angles of our sound. I said angles not angels. Anyway I am already doing new tracks for next year.

STEVE J.DRAKOS: The lyrics I wrote on Alex's "FAR BEYOND DAMNATION" music track are about the daughter I could never have: she is nine years old, she's in coma and she comes to me out of her body to call me, she wants me to kill her flesh to be set free... it's my own invention of poetry, but also a real thing. I pushed my voice into a new dimension for this album. "I WILL HAVE YOUR EYES" is one of my own tracks and is about my ex lover: she's dead and I need to penetrate her again in the sheer sexual sense of the word, and I also want to take her eyes. I could pull back my ex-girlfriend from the grave to possess her again and talk to her face, have her eyes etc. but my ex's are still all alive, as far as I know... too bad. "EUROPEAN HARD LINE" (music, lyrics, vox by Steve) is about the release of your real nature, figthing a double war against the stupid feelings of guilt that steal your heart and that try to stop you from being strong, proud of yourself and mercyless with your enemies, it’s an anthem of revenge for the European peoples: “from Russia to Portugal, from Iceland to Cyprus: different fingers, same fist”. “THE DEVIL’S GUARD” (music, lyrics, vox by Steve) are verses that I wrote walking alone in the night, in Prague’s medieval and very cold streets, it’s a cruise through centuries of history and the path to the making of a new young leader. “BURN FOREVER” and “YOUNG OBSESSIONS” (music by Steve and Alex, lyrics and vox by Steve featuring Susi Medusa) are about having an eternal sight on this world through devil-red eyes… But is impossible to say which one is the song that we love most in this album. As creators, time is on our side.

-Are there any thoughts on doing any videos to support the new album?

DerDRAKOS: Yes, all of these songs have also a high visual impact inside them. We are professional photographers and video makers so we'll go for it, in time.

-If you were to travel outside of Europe and travel to the USA what states would you want to visit and why?

DerDRAKOS: We would like to see them all and tear down your clubs' walls with our tracks!
